Introduction

Hello,

I live in Lima, Ohio USA, home of the former Lima Locomotive Works. I am interested in all types of steam engines. I enjoy building different types of steam and gas engines. Currently I am looking for a nice looking beam engine to build. I like the M.E. Beam or the Stuart Major Beam but would like to scale them down a bit. I am going to download the article from Model Engineering before I make up my mind on what to do.

Do you have problems using metric measurements in your engine building? I know a lot of American workshops can only work in imperial.

If not, I have a couple that just might be right for you.

Thanks for the information. Sorry for the long time before the reply. I have already scaled down the M.E. Beam a bit (1.125" bore X 2.25" stroke) and made a complete set of Cad drawings in inches. I have no problem working from a metric drawing though I would convert measurements to inch before machining. I have a good start on the engine. I have the foundation, bedplate, and column almost done and I am currently working on the cylinder. This is quite challenging to make them as drawn because I am not using castings. I am always interested in steam engine drawings metric or inch.
