Hello all,

I came across this group while surfing for information about my childhood memories.

I was lucky to have parents who travelled and enjoyed cruising trips - they met on a liner in the Mediterranean in the thirties.
My memories include crossing Torbay on the Western Ladies and paddlers such as
Totnes - Dartmouth on the Compton Castle and others
Portsmouth - Isle of Wight on the PS Ryde
South Wales - Weston super Mare and Ilfracome on the Cardiff Queen and Bristol Queen
Watching the Director tugs at Navy Days

There is nothing to compare with such trips now, though like steam trains and Meccano sets, I suppose youngsters these are not so excited at the thought of such things.

I live about as far as you can get from a real steamer, so I can only dream of one day getting round to making a model if my lack of skill and poor eyesight permit, and if I ever find suitable plans.

Welcome to Paddleducks Jerry,

Even if you cannot build your own model, I hope you'll still find the site interesting, but of course if we can help in any way, please ask!

Regards
Eddy
