Summer issue,PADDLE WHEELS magazine.
« on: June 28, 2008, 09:49:52 PM »
The summer issue of Paddle wheels ( quarterly magazine of the Paddle steamer preservation Society) has just arrived and as usual is a good read.
The most interesting article is an in-depth history of the paddle tug JOHN H AMOS covering its construction, service history, attempts at preservation, and the ongoing rescue and rebuild. I thought I knew about this paddler as I briefly helped in her 1970s restoration but NO there are facts in this article which are totaly new to me. A great read. Unfortunately unless you are a member of PsPs this magazine is quite difficult to come by. Isnt that a good reason for joining and helping to preserve WAVERLEY, KINGSWEAR CASTLE, BALMORAL, and supporting work on MAID OF THE LOCH, MEDWAY QUEEN etc. Go on, you know you want to!!! regards, walter.
Blessed are the "cracked" -for they let in the light for the rest of us.
