Cheap boilers
« on: June 24, 2008, 05:41:14 AM »
Hello guys,

I have already bought and assembled Graham's VR1A and TVR1A http://www.grahamind.com/stengine.html engine and now I'm looking for suitable boiler with a accessories for the reasonable price. So far I found only models for about 1000$. Does anyone know any models for about 300-400$ with all accessories, or it's too low price for it?

Hi,

I constructed my boilers myself, made drawings and had them made by a normal heating workshop. Material Inox. No problem. And not as heavy like the boilers which can be bought on the model market. I build models of swimming steamers, no submaries.

Hi Andy,

How much did it cost to have the boilers soldered by a workshop?

will depend on your connections. Because I am an industrial architect, I got my boiler for the model of the DIESSEN paddler for 0 Deutschmarks in 1984. Was made by the workshop, who had the job for all the tubings in one of by us designed big pharmaceutical laboratory building.

The boiler, I have made this time, I think will cost about 400€.

Hi PD's....when it comes to reality.... :crash...there is no such thing as a "Cheap Boiler"....we only get what we pay for & so we must thank both Nick & bogstandard for their comments..... :clap..........

400€. is certainly not cheap...but if a quality product could be good value  :beer  Derek

The only way to have a inexpensive boiler is to build one your self.

Hi Derek,

this boiler for 400€ will be cheap- if you would see ist!. Quite light, inox steel. 1 flame- tube, 10 little smoke tubings, 1 big smoke tubing, all things turned on a bench and cutted by laser....

So wait some weeks when you will see the pictures. As you know, I hate scompromises.l

I do not want to have made a cheap boiler, ist has to become a perfect and functional boiler.

I have a plan of the boiler of the DIESSEN model, but how to publish this big plan here? It is about 1m x 0,80m. Photo??

Hi PD's.....Andy asks.....

"I have a plan of the boiler of the DIESSEN model, but how to publish this big plan here?" It is about 1m x 0,80m

If you e-mail the plan to Eddy...he could copy it into our Down Loads Folder for all to see   :kewlpics....Derek

Ok, but how to digitalize it? it is an old paper from 1977, and if I take a pic with 10 Mio pixels camera, it will not go via the net????

If you photograph the drawing, how big is the image Andy?

I have a 50Mb inbox at eddy.matthews@paddleducks.co.uk and I can increase that if necessary. but of course it also depends on how big a file your ISP will allow you to send via email, if they restrict you, it doesn't really matter how big my inbox is!.... The only alternative would be to send it on a CD or DVD via snailmail.
