Hi All,
I know I haven't been in touch for a while but with a model railway layout in development and work commitments I have been busy. I decided to increase the power for my Blockade Runner the P.S. Phantom as it was border line with no reserve power on windy days. I pulled out the 12 volt geared motor and refitted an old reliable 6 volt motor without gearbox, this gave me the extra speed I wanted but in the process it developed that horrible sinking feeling, what I had done without realising was I had cut away part of the inside of the paddlebox on one side, all the way through. This was to allow a larger diameter pulley wheel to be fitted. I tested the model (Statically) in test tank i.e. the bathtub and all seemed well then eventually down to the lake when I noticed that the waterline was disappearing beneath the waves so a very quick return to shore and a 1 inch water ballast had developed inside. Today I finally fixed it and will be heading for the lake at the next available chance.
I'll let you all know how it goes
