Love to have come along Hans.  but it's too far for me.

I have to wait until she comes down to South Wales. I live close to the Waverley Society organisation Secretary, so I can keep abreast of things. I'm hoping to be able to acquire all the construction details I need to complete my version of the build.   ;)

Have a nice trip

Ken

I'd love to come for the Oban trip on the monday Hans, but I suspect it will be too late now to get a B&B for 2 or 3 of us to stay in? :(

My cousin was the last Cal-Mac skipper on the "Waverley" and he used to say that she was an awkward and unpredictable lady!

I'm looking forward to meeting again Hans  :) and, speaking as an exiled Johnstonian, the possibility of meeting Alistair also.  PS good luck to the team on Sunday.  ;)
Cheers from Bob Golder

Well, Bob Golder and I got back from our jaunt up to Scotland yesterday evening.... A fantastic few days in the company of friends. Hans and Tomas were there from Switzerland, and we also met Alistair Deayton onboard Waverley....

The cruise on monday couldn't have been better - Absolutely marvelous weather which was more like the middle of summer than early spring! In fact it was so good that both Bob and I got sunburnt!!
The island of Iona was a mystical place with really gorgeous scenery. It's the first time I've been to Iona, and I fell in love with it!

My new car (Volvo S80) did an amazing 49 mpg during our 640 mile round trip - Incredible for a large saloon with a 2.4 litre engine!

After all of the problems I've had over the last few months, the break was just what I needed, and spending it sailing on the Waverley with really good friends made it all the more special - Thankyou to everyone for making it all so enjoyable, especially to Bob Golder for putting up with me pouring my heart out on more than one occassion. He's a really special friend and I'll always remember his kindness and understanding.

Finally, here's a few photos from our trip....

Aye Eddie, no wonder God's own country is getting full of white settlers  when you can have weather like that in the western isles. Who needs to go abroad when the sun can shine!

Pleased you enjoyed your trip, I have never done Iona on WAVERLEY but have sailed there often on the KING GEORGE V, now that was a real turbine steamer, sadly now razor blades!

Cracking pictures, Eddy. What great weather you had.  Are you on any of the pictures ?  We'd all like to see you and your car.

I've got the booking sheet for this year and we start on the 24th May in South Wales. Unfortunately, it clashes with the model boat 'do' at Wicksted Park, so I won't be able to make it until the bank holiday Monday. She's calling in at Penarth for a cruise to to the Exmore coast. Hope to see anyone from Wales on board. I'll be the one with the camera and a silly grin.  ;D

Cheers...Ken

Sadly no pics of me or the car Ken, unless Bob or Hans took one whilst I wasn't looking? ;)

Well worth the wait... :D

Seriously though, have you considered a "what do you look like" topic, to get us all to send in our mug shots. I could start it off if it's allowed.
