This might seem like a pretty dumb request but I'm running out of shops to try and get hold of some emery cloth... Tried B&Q (the fella in there didn't know what it was  :-\, Wickes, Halfords, Focus DIY, local irnmongers - no joy.  Suggestions?

Hello,
Both Grainger's Industrial Supply and McMaster-Carr list emory cloth in various grades and sized packages. Do a Google on them.

Greebo,

The most likely local place would be an engineering suppliers, you know the type, nuts, bolts bearings etc.

If you want to order online Axminster tools is the place, sheet and reels. Not really cheap anywhere for a quality type.

Thanks for the suggestions fellas, dammed expensive aint it?  :-\
I finally remembered to take some pics of my steam launch in the building (although it's nearly finished). Tried a flotation test in the bath this weekend and it floated perfect fore and aft (Phew) but had quite a list to port. I left some holes in the decking (under the engine plate) so plenty of room for some lead in the bilges should sort that out then it's that all important engine test.
