Took a dinner cruise on a little 100 ton twin stern wheeler this weekend.  Got to steer it for a while. It was built about twenty years ago.  The twin paddle wheels were independent of each other. It was run by diesel electric.  We had problems with the governor and nearly lost power.  Had to limp  in to  dock on one paddle wheel.  Interesting little boat although built mostly for tourist trade.
