Hi - I am a new member from the wilds of Norfolk, England. I have recently retired from my own business as a consulting electrical engineer and have returned to my hobby of building model boats.
I also have a keen interest in model steam engines and have combined these two to build live steam model ships with my own designs of steam plant in what are (generally) scratch-built ships.
One of particular interest to Paddleducks will be a much modified Graupner 'Glasgow' kit that has been changed to represent the paddle tug 'John H Amos'. At present it is electrically powered whilst I complete the steam plant, but will shortly be re-built with a gas-fired vertical boiler of my own design to run a twin-cylinder, double-acting oscillating engine (also of my own design). The engine is geared to a countershaft which drives a boiler feed pump to keep the boiler topped up during running from on-board water tanks. The paddle shaft is chain driven from the countershaft.
I have pictures and video, but they are all too big to post - I will post when I figure out how to reduce the size!
