Hi PD's & as John says........Thanks for the info lads, just what I expected.
Thats why I parked my bum on here, good humour, no backstabbing and good moderation, what more could you ask for.
Just keep the troublemakers off here and all will be well.

But PJ did make a special dispensation & that was :news  :hammer all those years ago  :computer... to allow us  :yeah OZZIES to join the  :no1 PD group

So....happy fathers...or grandfathers...day if or as applicable  ...treat your self to cup of  :coffee  or a :beer or two :towel  :music & happy paddle....ing

Hi PD's..... some of our more mature [in years] members may re-call SRDB shaft couplings [Sonnerdale+Richardson+David Brown]....these were used in British industry & copied by the Yanks

They were even exported=imported to OZ for our paddlers... so  :thinking ...where do I get a set for a 3/16" [0.1875"] shaft for PS Decoy :?:

Finally found a manufacturerererer in Crewe UK  :hammer who has the exclusive patiented permission to manufacture under Licence from SRDB sets of such couplings.......beautiful work..... :kewl  :music

HOWEVER... I am a bit concerned that the 10 BA tappings may be either upside down or LEFT handed :rant

What Derek doesn't realise is that I used special equator proof dissolving glue to stick the holes in.
By the time he gets them the holes will have fallen out and he will end up with just two lumps of brass :rant

Happy Grandfathers day.

Hi PD’s……do we have any budding chemical engineers on board?......I need to de-plate electroless nickel plating from brass – small stuff only…… 5 mm AF hexagon sections x 20 mm long

In typical OZ style I have experimented a bit with………GARLIC & red wine without success
GOOGLE suggests muriatic acid, GOOGLE also suggests muriatic acid was also hydrochloric acid……Hcl [concentration 300gm/l] doesn’t appear to work…although has made bubbles on the nickel surface so clearly is a step improvement better the red wine & GARLIC which didn’t bubble at all
Tried immersing one sample in Bogstandards brass solder cleaning brew for a week but that didn’t work either [nor did it bubble at all]

I mean we are only talking a 5 micron surface deposit [five millionths of a metre]… I suppose if all else fails… just get a piece of 500 W&D & Brasso on a sheet of glass

These four 5 mm AF brass sections will appear as the base & top sections of my engine frame columns which will attach to the larger base sections shown here [courtesy of Crewe Engineering…Bandit & Vinnie]

Oh BTW… sorry to be posting outside of PD’s……but the system will not let me log on
Any chemical engineering assistance appreciated…………..Derek

Try cola (coke or pepsi) or lemon aid (powdered heavy solution).

Hi Derek,
Just flat them down as you suggested, you will most probably end up with a better finish. :music
The time it has taken for you to beat your gums about doing it chemically, the job would have been done, or are you searching for a chemist for a new project. :angel
I have brass hex 4.5mm and 5.5mm in my stash, so if they were ok I could make you some without all the hassle.

Looking nice Derek, should be a wonderful looking setup when it's all finished.
BTW the easiest way is usually the best.
The reason I have to be up so early is Bandit, he suffers from insomnia, thinking about all his lady friends, but what he doesn't realise he only fires blanks (caught him off guard when he was a youngster), and we have to go to the 'field of a thousand new smells' every morning, before it gets contaminated with people smells.
