Hi PDs,

I am retired military, my interests are primarily steam engines and I've only recently taken up the hobby. Purchased a small lathe (Taig) and managed to complete a Stuart S50, which seems to work as advertised. Also assembled a GAGE VR1A kit but admitedly little challenge in that!

Came across this forum by virtue of a post by one of your members (Bogstandard) on another forum (Hobbysteam) and have followed John's scratch build with great interest. Needless to say, his skill way beyond mine but his obvious enthusiasm and extensive fabrication notes/pictures may tempt me to try something similar!

Might be a 'fish out of water' as far as this forum's topics are concerned, having not considered boats as an application for any steam engines I may fabricate, but may get the bug as a peruse this forum.

Will share what I can (likely not too much :sorry ) but expect the knowledge flow will be mostly one way!

BTW - great forum. :bravo

Good to have you with us Floyd.... Welcome to Paddleducks!

John (bogstandard) has made a bit of a name for himself with his posts on building a steam engine from mainly junk materials, and rightly so, he's put a huge amount of effort into it so we can all gain from his experience.

You never know, we may just convert you to making a steam powered paddler - We'll creep up on you when your least expecting it! ;)
~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~
