Paddle steamer returns to Cardiff !

Waverley will have a open day at Cardiff on Thursday 24th May between 1000 and 1900 at the start of her visit to the Bristol Channel.

The ship will be alongside in the Roath Basin, in the heart of the Cardiff Bay development.

On Friday 25th the paddler will sail from Cardiff at 1230 making it the first public sailing to leave Cardiff by Paddle Steamer since Saturday 26th August 1967 which was aboard the PS Bristol Queen.

Sadly Waverleys visit to the Bristol channel is much shorter this year, the last sailing is Sunday June 10th from Milford Haven.

Arrived last night having had a good passage down from Scotland.

Here she is in the Wrach Channel on the approach to Cardiff Dock.

Pic taken from Penarth Head, the highest point in the Vale of Glamorgans coastline.

Here's another of her heading past Penarth. The main channel to Cardiff goes just below the cliff, great place for pics !

383 people visited the paddler whilst alongside in Cardiff Bay.  She's just sailed for a afternoon cruise with around 400 passengers aboard.

The paddler is back in Cardiff this evening for bunkers. Berthed in the Queen Alexandra Dock.

Sailing at 0600 tomorrow.

Hi PD's & interestingly Chris...   :thinking I remember reading about the two new Babcock package boilers but cannot remember if the fuel oil was nominated

So what is Waverley's preference for .... :boom ..is it bunker sea?, waxey crude?, light marine oil or heavy marine oil :?: ....like after all it is only going to be BURNT  

 :nono ....... :shoot  It couldn't be waxey crude, as that GOOP solidifies :sorry  @ 13 degrees C
