Mystery face!

Hi gang..I was recently on a flight from Victoria to New York and needed something to read.  Just before I left, a buddy gave me a couple of model ship mags to read on the journey.  Lo and behold in one of the mags I came upon this picture.  Anyone recognize him?

Well Eddy, not as I had imagined. Thought that you be tall and handsome with a debonair look. Then again reality lies at the bottom like silt in a pond. You look much like a normal boat modeller with a contented smile while holding ones creation out for display (and with a hint of a chill in the air, the need of a dram or two).

If I remember correctly, the photo was taken in december 2002 for an article that was published in Marine Modelling International magazine in March 2003, so yes it was bloody cold that day! :-)  It wasn't even a contented smile - Just my teeth chattering!

I don't know why, but we always have a mental image of people we've chatted to on the net, but that image is never like reality.

And to answer your question Jim, yes the sale is still on  :lol:

Well..I think Eddy DOES look handsome and debonnair and since he's had to take the heat of the spotlight, maybe WE should all do a bit of "Show and Tell" as well.

As Red suggested, we never actually look the way others imagine us,  so it might be fun for us all to post a pic or two and blow a few myths.  I've rummaged  through my albums and found another "Mystery Pic".  I am in it somewhere but can you guess which one.  There is also a VERY well known PD in the picture.  Can you guess who?  And exactly WHERE do you think the pic was taken? The others are all paddler fanatics and some of you might recognize them too.  Hint: Clyde River Steamers Club.

That is a very uncomplimentary photgraph of me with a funny hat on, in the Caledonia Tea Bar on Waverley, PJ.
To my left in the photo is Gibbie Anderson from the CRSC, and I think the guy to the far right had come from Germany for that sailing. He produced a photo album with photos of his car smashed up because he had driven on the wrong side of the road in the UK. I don't remember his name

Ok I'll admit it I am an idiot.

As Eddy says I sell Industrial Power Tools when I work for a living.

 On Sunday I was ripping down some timber to 20x20mm from a larger plank. Being very safety concious I had prepared the work area cleared the floor of all debris, placed the 12" table saw in the correct position , outfeed table was on to support the material when it had passed the blade, parallel fence clamped tightly, riving knife adjusted for depth of cut, blade guard is in place, push stick in right hand &  on  material being cut. When passing the material through the saw I stupidly left my left hand on the material until it was about 3" from blade (YOU SHOULD NEVER LET YOU HAND GO ONTO THE TABLE AREA EVER!!!) When all of a sudden the plank kicks back (hit a knot) and the piece I had been holding in left hand ( too close to blade ) goes in under the blade guard : I thought that I got away with it and the finger would be bruised because of the kick back, unfortunately my fingertip had been caught by the blade travelling at 80 m/second and I lost  the top 3mm of my nail and the flesh underneath it. OW and other such expletives followed before the shock wore off. I then spent the next 3 3/4 hours in the accident and emergency room being treated fo the minor cut.

As a lesson to you all PLEASE PLEASE be very careful when using any power tools. I have been selling these things for the past 22 years and I consider myself very fortunate indeed to be suffer as little as this. I know many people who have fared so much worse Please Do Not Let It Be YOU.

One assumes the price on the 12" table saw is now discounted because the saw is CHOP SOILED :lol:

Seriously though, I have a retired builder uncle who has only nine fingers as a result of a very similar accident, and a mate who was partly scalped when his long hair was caught in a lathe.

Plenty of traps for unwary players in our workshops...

At least it's not the drinking hand.
