Well done Eddy. You've obviously burnt a lot of midnight oil - or supped a few ales! Everything working fine here now that I've cleared the cache and updated the link in 'my favourites'.

Hi PD's & welcome to our new electronic 'HOST'  :rant - only joking Eddy  :hehe  :music , but when I logged onto the Photo Gallery today......this is what I saw :?:

Warning: main(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/photopost/languages/english.php) is not within the allowed path(s): (/tmp:/usr/share/pear:/home/fhlinux181/p/paddleducks.co.uk/user) in /home/fhlinux181/p/paddleducks.co.uk/user/htdocs/photopost/pp-inc.php on line 131

So not being really  :computer literate I reflected & remembered a few years back  a :post by PJ, when he asked what sort of response would be fourth/forth/[4th] coming from the Vegamite splattered keyboard  :computer [south of that horizontal line around the fat part of our GLOBE]

>>>>> from memory, "an open_basedir restriction" is also an oriface  :sorry  :nah - couldn't resist it<<<<<

& Shock+Horror  :crash awaits us all   in the next rendition/edition/revision  of "Steam for Nuts" by courtesy of our AFC from that funny funny funny  :hehe  :bravo Scotland & the not so brave - Derek :beer

It does seem to be a little quirky at the moment Derek... Lets hope it settles down in time, if not there's no other software I can use to replace it, so it may have to go.... That's not what I'd like, but we'll just see how it goes first.

Damn damn damn!  :sob

I've eventually found the reason that I couldn't get the photo gallery to work - Our new host doesn't allow one of the calls it makes to execute external programs because of security reasons, so now we're stuck with a gallery we cannot use :(

For the time being I've installed something that will work, and I'm in the process of uploading all the photos again - But the downside is that we've lost all the user galleries and photo descriptions etc.... You can create a new user gallery and upload your photos as before, but I have no way of being able to restore what we previously had.

I know it's damned annoying, but that's the way things go sometimes... My apologies to all, but I'm doing my best to get things back to normality.

Hi PD's & moderators - just one small point to review, when we view the new Links page, your NEW SYSTEM has provided the opportunity for members to vote & offer a rating/scoring :computer [1 to 5] of the linked sites

I looked @ Model Steam Engines (UK) which had a hit of 1 and a score of 2

So without being too       I logged onto the site name list  & entered a value of two   :crash  :rant & this input was accepted, being two hits & the average good score of two

Only real problem is >>>>> the Model Steam Engines (UK) site is non functional & has been so for the past year or so

So  :thinking , :nose  :hmmm  :hmph

My vote is best we  try  :bow & to understand how to minimise fraudulent mathematics  :spam  within our own WEBSITE to start with :angel - Derek  :beer

I'm afraid you've lost me totally Derek - What new facilities??? Apart from the forum stats, we haven't added anything new recently, so I'm confused - Hey it doesn't take a lot to confuse me! ;)

Hi PD's ..... Eddy asked last week

I'm afraid you've lost me totally Derek - What new facilities???

Well I just meant the VIDEO section installed on 23/12/06 [it's called ESP]

So thanks also to Bob Golder for the VIDEO clips of PS Waverley...but as usual I am a little   .... in the 280 MB of the engine room, we see the Engineer at his engine console obeying the engine commands   :crash from bridge telegraph.......to the rear of the console [toward the engine] we see a thin [1/2"diameter] vertical shaft [6 1/2'high] & moving up & down with each revolution of the engine.... what is this control rod do  :?:

The other supprising item of note is that the engine speed seems to build up to approx 45 RPM which is higher than I imagined

Apart from that  :kewl  & :post video's Bob......Oh & BTW, I think I saw Sandy & his ACS crew with their cup of tea &  :towel VEGEMITE sandwich on the shore line in one video  :music  :hehe

regards Derek

The rod coming upwards is linked to a  rev counter. As far as I remember this is a comparatively recent  addition
