It is a one hour movie on Google videos and really shows some great old paddlewheel footage. Movie was probably made at the turn of the last century and is a silent movie with music.

OK SKYPUP & Hi Pd's....I am running a BOG standard XP - P4 @ 2.98 Ghz with a few million bitz of RAM, but cannot get the movie to progress beyond 59 seconds, then   , then another 59 seconds, then again>>>>>>>

Is this because I am lower than equator, & voltages SLIPP when preceding toward the south pole :?: if this is correct Tony should only get [59/127 multiplied (X) of 9/10 of daylight saving] which I calculate as 0.418 of my viewing or 2.47 seconds in NZ time :?:  :rant  

When looking from the outside :hmmm  :hmph  in, I think that both Red & Sandy would agree that SKYPUP may be related to that .... Lucy in the Sky W Diamonds do do, do do.  :music  :music - your most humble south of the border PD..... .... Derek

Same here (well,almost...) I have windows XP, pentium 4 - 3.4 Ghz, 1 gb memory and 120 gb hard drive...unfortunately, all this is connected to my ISP via a telephone line, supposedly capable of (an abominably slow!) 56Kbps, though 45Kbps is about as good as it ever gets. The result is that a 30 second video usually takes around 10 to 15 minutes to load so at 1 hour-9 minutes.....forget it, it'll time out.
If/when I eventually get a 'broadband' connection, I'll take a look at it (it does look interesting from the still image they have as a thumbnail/link)

Gentlemen

Trying going to goole search and hit videos. Next type in steamboats and the movie should be the second on the page. See if going there directly solves the issue vs the hyperlink. It plays the whole movie for me by going directly.

I think part of your problem maybe that you don't have broadband. If this is your situation try doing what I do, she who cooks pays for the broadband and I use it. This is by far the best situation I know of and on broadband there appears to be no stopping throughout the whole film.

I've no problems with Google Video, but I do have broadband. As an alternative to watching "live" on line, download the video to your hard drive and watch it at your leisure. If you're really sneaky, convert it to AVI, burn a DVD and play it on your TV time and again.

PS they also have "African Queen", "Battleship Potemkin" and that other Keaton great "The General".
