Hi group

I have been an active r/c modeler for 42 years. My primary interest has been airplanes and helicopters but I have dabbled in boats also. I built a scratchbuilt steam launch (live steam) and a scratchbuilt twin electric sport fisherman type boat. I also have two live steam locomotives. I have always been fascinated by sternwheelers and have considered the Dumas Creole Queen. I am looking for a nice set of plans for an 1800's Mississipi type sternwheeler project. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Welcome Skypup, you'll find this a very knowledgable group with very varied interests in all things paddledriven. Have a look in the plans section for something to spark your interest, admittedly as we are more predominently european based the majority of plans are of this origin. Admittedly there is a strong contingent of contributors from both North America and the Southern Hemisphere and they will likely try to convince us that these boats were better than our kind  :lol: Have fun and look around then ask the questions we don't bite   In turn we'll ask you quesrions on how to write up technical reports

Yeah and they talk kind of funny   and it is hard,  sometimes, to follow their humor  But then again Y'all are from Texas and should understand them OK.   They put their paddle wheels on the side of their boats and wonder why they go in circles.  :roll:

hello skypup,if your thinking about the creole queen,I highly recomend the kit.Im 14,its my frist boat,its ez and fun kit to build.Iv not made any misteaks(or I should say BAD BIG ones)building it so far.If you look at the under "construction forum" you can see my build.There is quite a few people on here that has built the C.Q. too.

Thanks to all who responded to my post. I have my Creole Queen on its way. I have been doing things to get ready for the model including cleaning my workshop. I purchased a 12V 5 AMP lead acid battery for my main drive as well as a 6V for my Graupner bow thruster which is also on the way. I have the Macks Products universal smoke unit on order and smoke fluid which smells like coal and also some which smells like wood. I started a picture gallery (Bob..San Antonio) and added 2 photos of my experimental lighting system which will provide for a lighted interior and a flashing lights effect for the exterior. I also have a RAM steam horn and caliope sound system coming. There isn't a lot of water in south texas, however, there is a city park with a 28 acre lake. A model sailboat group founded in 1939 operates from this lake. Thanks for having me aboard.
