Hi All,
You guys are something else...a very big thank you to all for the info on the B. of. L...
Lots to look at more closely, however, one thing you should all know.....Eddy is singularly resposible for the change of ACS from a boiler/engine makers to a chair manufacturing outfit...

:music
Just kidding Eddy.
Having said that, I think there may be standing room only on the Scottish version, at least for a while, besides, we don't get Hurricanes up here.... :?: :?: :hmmm
Bill....interesting shots of the PW Portland valve drive....I had not seen anything on internal eccentric drive mechanisms up to now and it looks very much like a form of Stephenson link from the pictures...Interesting.
One of the photo's, from the links Eddy posted, does confirm that the B.of L. is equipped with lever operated valves so I would think that these would be driven by true Cams, rather than eccentrics, however, I see no good reason that these could not be driven inboard in a similar fashion...in both cases the take off from the Pitman must have some form of sliding link, since the only point on the Pitman which has truly circular motion is at the wheel crank end...this will get progressivly more eliptical as the take off point moves back towards the crosshead....More thought in a later post I think.
Derek....I am pleased that you have managed to resolve your gas control issues...I have had many good reports of 'Anton' customer services...unlike JMC.
Ok PD's...must go and get a couple of customers outfits steam tested....and then get the workshop ready for 5000 deck chairs.. :nose

:vacat :vacat
Best regards.
Sandy.
