Aren't computers fun?
« on: May 31, 2006, 07:35:05 AM »
I've spent the last three days getting rid of a stupid Adware program that took over my computer on saturday :-(

I had pop-ups with online casino ads, hoax virus warnings galore, and my browser would insist on going to a website that I didn't want to go to!

So three days down the line, after running Windows XP in safe mode and deleting files here there and everywhere, modifying system registry entries, and changing browser settings like there's no tomorrow - I've eventually got rid of the "expletive deleted"!

Why oh why do these idiots write these programs? I'd love to get hold of one of them one day - But if I did what I'd like to, it would probably mean I'd end up in jail for a considerable length of time!

Ho-hum, the joys of computers!
~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~

I know what you mean. Back in the winter a malware got in and all four of my anti spy software couldn't do a thing with it, not even Norton Systemworks.

I found a great forum that helped me http://www.xpforum.co.uk/forums/index.php
and found a new anti-malware program that cleaned up my computer and have blocked everything since. It's called Ewido anti-malware. The price is very reasonable and it has a free tryout. I love it. I don't know what the site is, but I found it reading through the XP forum. You can do a search engine for it. Try it out. It may find some hidden surprises.
