A GOOD "FIND" OF PADDLE TUG PLANS

A bit of good fortune came my way today, I have been given copies of two shipyard plans of the paddle tugs PT  LINGDALE at inch to 3 feet scale inluding lines and cross sections and PT JOHN AMOS at 1/48th scale including  hull lines and cross sections. Both will need a little TLC before I can get them copied and I hope to get them reduced to A4 and post them on Paddleducks. With a little bit of coaxing I think there may be a lot of other useful stuff from the same source ( a long retired shipyard modeller). Regards to all, Walter.

That sounds great... PT JOHN AMOS is very interesting even for me not a 'paddleduck' at all  :) . Anyways I have a model in mind of a handsome paddle tug  :D  For sure steam driven  not electric :twisted:.

I've just got copies of the plans for the Lingdale and the John H Amos from Walter - Thanks mate!

I have to admit the Lingdale looks very appealing! With it's paddles set well forward and it's twin (side by side) funnels it would make into a lovely model, and at first glance it looks like the Graupner paddlewheels would fit it very nicely at 1:36 scale.

Definately one that I'll have to give some serious thought to....

Dear Walter - I am going to throw myself on your mercy!.  I have been looking for drawings for a  two funnel astride paddle tug for about 5 years!
When I built Reliant/Old Trafford I foolishly started on a quest to build about 4 tugs of different layouts but have never been able to find a complete enough set of drawings to do the deed.

I build all my models to 24th scale. Could you confirm that the drawings you have of Lingdale do in fact have the sheer lines and sections? (I have the G/A drawing published in P N Thomas's book) and would you be willing to sell me a set?

No problem Stuart.I am off to the Dortmund model show Tuesday, But i will get in touch when I get back. I will get the plans copied (2 sheets) when I get back. (Hopefully with more paddler stuff). I think we are near neighbours (arent you up on the Tyne?). How about a swap for any paddler plan that you have? I can get plans copied quickly and cheaply (£2.75 for an A0 size). If you are up on the Tyne perhaps we could meet to hand them to you over a cuppa! Eddy and I like the teraroom on North shields fish quay. Sheet 1 is a very good GA plan and profile. Sheet 2 is hull lines and crosssections)frames). I will be in touch. Regards, Walter. PS Havnt you got  good web cover of Your RELIANT? Yes - thats mine Walter. Twin puffin engines and interior detail. I'll try and find the link for you. I know it was Doug Ord's tynside memorabilia site that featured it under the 'model tugs' section.
