Hello....
« on: October 23, 2005, 04:36:13 AM »
Greetings Paddleducks!

I was a member of the old yahoo forum, and signed up to this a few months ago, but life being as crazy as it is means I've never really got to saying Hi or reading through the site until now!

I'm currently enduring a quiet and rather dull evening shift at the water company where I work, a perfect time to introduce myself I thinks....!

I am interested in ships generally, especially passenger ones, and especially steam driven ones, naturally then there is a special place in my heart for the paddle steamer! I am particularly keen on the British paddlers of the 1900's - 1940's but am keen on all the rest from around the world as well, am looking forward to a return visit to Australia to visit the Murray, when there visiting various family and friends earlier in the year, a visit to the Murray, shock horror!, proved impossible to fit in!

I have a tendency to have too many projects on the go at anyone time, but, by my book, that just keeps things interesting!

At various stages of construction I have models of the 1931 PS Jeanie Deans at 1:32, 1924 PS Medway Queen 1:32, and 1949 MV Balmoral 1:48 (all scratch build) and the 1903 PS Duchess of Fife 1:48 (aquired in bad condition off ebay for renovation earlier this year) with plans being drawn up (the part of modelling I like the best) for several others, especially those of the Bristol Channel (my speciality) including: 1894 PS Westward Ho, 1895 PS Cambria, 1896 PS Britannia, 1946 PS Bristol Queen and 1947 PS Cardiff Queen all at 1:32, my preferred scale.

I have enjoyed reading though many of the posts, and have found much of value, so thanks for that everybody! I look forward to being able to add my bit in due course!

If anyone feels I may be of assistance to them, or vice versa, please don't hesitate to get in touch!

Cheers,

Andy C

Nice to have you with us Andy, Welcome!

Sounds like you have quite a fleet with all the models that are currently being built! Any chance of a few photos of them?

I know what you mean about too many projects on the go at one time - I'm probably the worlds worst for doing that! Every now and then I have to call a halt and concentrate on just one model otherwise nothing ever gets finished!

Anyway, I'm looking forward to hearing some more about your models...

Thanks Eddy,

My Jeanie Deans and Medway Queen are both at early stages, I will post photos as they progress, Balmoral has been close to complete for a long time now, and Duchess of Fife was complete when I bought it, but is now in bits under going refurb, i'll get photos of those two on the site as soon as i can!

Cheers

Andy
