Just to clarify things a little, especially for our newer members, although Paddleducks is of course devoted to modelling paddlewheel driven vessels, we're perfectly happy to hear about any other model boats you've built (or are intending to build!).

The only thing we ask is that you post any messages about them in this forum. That way they won't be confused as a paddler! :-)

I suppose if there was enough demand we could even setup a couple of forums specifically for none paddle driven models (heresy I know!), but the main purpose of the website is (and will always be) paddlers!

Here's a link to photos taken at the St. Lousi Admiral's boat show this year. I wasn't able to attend, but my buddy Bernie Cain took first place with his towboat Donna York. There's some paddlers there too.

Hey Eddy:

I've been fascinated by all the steam engine postings in PD's and I think there's quite a bit of interest in these since you started the ball rolling with yours.  I also thoroughly enjoy the posts from this "Sandy" feller who really seems to know his stuff.  And of course "Dan Undah Derek" who has been a loyal PD right from the begining!. What do you think about making a forum heading specifically for "LIVE STEAM"?  I even have a live steamer, a lovely paddle tug but it's in the UK.

Some new message areas have been added this morning Paul - Hopefully it will attract some new users that we can then convert to paddlers! :-)

You never told me about the live steam paddle tug! Maybe I could pick it up for you if it's in the UK? I would look after it well until you collected it - Of course it would have to be fired up once in a while just to make sure it didn't seize up, and whilst it's got a full head of steam it might as well be put on the water..... You get my drift?  :vacat

Edward Matthews! Are you sure your middle name isn't Machiavelli?

As with PJ, I've been very interested in the recent threads on live steam, partiuclarly as I'm new to steam and badly need to 'upskill' on the subject. I think the separate forum for steam would be a great idea.

And although some of the interest has come from non-paddler-oriented modellers I think the spin-off benefits will pay off for Paddleducks.

Perhaps it's another reflection of the wonderful work that the administrators and moderators have done on developing and maintaining this site. Well done gents! :terrific

:darn How am I going to get my big head through the door now so I can go to bed???

Seriously, thanks for the kind words Tony - It's always nice to know the work we do is appreciated. I hope you (and others) will always find the mods and admins to be approachable. There's no point if we just go off and do "Our thing" if that isn't what our members want, so we do try to listen and take note of any comments that are made.
