Good day,
My name is Dave.
I live on the coast of the North Carolina, near the South Carolina border, in SouthPort, a small town that sits on the mouth of the Cape Fear River.

A little about my area ,,, We have a military amo port, a neucler power plant, and Of course a toxic chemical plant. :roll:


My area is full of navel history. From the landing of Spanish conquistadors,  to the gentleman pirate Steed Bonnet and notorious Black Beard, to the Civil War battles and blockades of Fort Fisher and fort Caswell.
Not to mention the many shipwrecks of my area in the Frying Pan shoals
just south of the "Graveyard of the Atlantic"

I have always been interested in ships.
And I feel that Steam is not dead and that with the use of today’s materials and technology it could be more efficient than ever.

Anyway I think I will build my first RC steamer and I want it to be a Paddlewheeler.
This site seems to be a wonderful source of information.

And of course, it is very exciting to meet people from across the pond.

A paddler is a great choice for a model - though of course we are a little biased on here! :-)

You'll find we have members from all over the world, not just "across the pond", we have members in the USA, Europe, New Zealand, and Australia to name just a few.

Anyway, we're all here to help, so if you have questions just fire away, we'll do our best to answer them.

If I am correct doesn't Nuclear power burn down to steam power anyway? I agree tht steam should power more things now adays...especially with the price of petrol and just around when I start to learn to drive too! (the world is against me!)

I think a paddler's a great model to start with too because (as I am finding out with my current project) They are very cheap to make (unless you go the all out brass feathering steam plant type) and alot of them don't have sails so you don;'t have to worry about making all those little rigging knots etc

(And yes I know there are paddlers with sails!)
