HBC paddler "Beaver"

Fellow Paddlers,

I am currently reading the HBC history "Caesars of the Wilderness".
It has a brief history (and picture) of the Hudson Bay Company
sidepaddler Beaver. Has anyone out there attempted a modle of this
ship? Are there actually any plans to go by, or just a few grainy
pictures. Her history is amazingly well documented. Maybe when I
manage to get done with my current paddler I will give this one a
shot.

Hey Brian!

A vessel dear to my heart...the old Hudson's bay "Beaver"..the ship
that really defines the beginning of the Pacific NorthWest. As Jim
says, the Delgado book is THE authoritative work on this ship and has
the advantage of showing her in her different configurations.
Frankly it has everything you'll ever need to build a magnificent
model of the "Beaver" during her heyday and indeed any period of her
long and ultimately not so illustrious career.

A set of "Beaver" plans is offerred from time to time from an Ebay
seller in Florida who no doubt photocopies them and sells them for
US$15.00. The last time they came up was early July and I saved the
number which should still be in the Ebay archives. The item number
was 5907650020 and titled "Hudson Bay Company Steam Ship Plan." Run a
search and take a look at the Ebay item anyway.

I'm not sure what configuartion this plan depicts of the ship so I'd
rather put my money into the Delgado book if it can be purchased at
the bargain price of $35.00. A great opportunity!
Please keep us fully up to date with your "Beaver" project and of
course your current paddler. Details details details!!!

Very best regards
