Gerald, and other P.D.'s,

I've been working on my Dumas Creole Queen kit. I recently finished
the hull. She floats and no longer leaks (finally)! I am currently
planking the deck and working on the paddle. The Wilesco D48 arrived
yesterday, so she should be operable in the next few weeks. I'll then
finish the superstructure.

Happy paddling!

Hi TJ,
A hull that does not leak is a great thing to have, my SL Lily does not leak, but with the OLD D48 engine I have it does, thus I end up with about 1 oz. of water in the bottom every run ( the engine was originally run with either no oil or the wrong type). My other problem is the new boiler is heavier than the old one and I still have to add feed water pumps etc. I think I shall have to open up the shipyard and place a new hull on the ways! Basil Harley's Rose from the March 1986 model boats looks nice, and by using my rubber ruler I can stretch his 31" to 36" to fit my boiler and engine. Then I can plan on a new engine and redo the original boiler to go back in Lily. Keep us posted as to how the Creole Queen Kit is coming, and if I might suggest try to make it that you can remove the boiler and engine for servicing and cleaning also the flywheel will pickup any oil or water that collects under it and spray it all around.
May your Boiler stay Hot and you cool
Regards,
Gerald
