Windows at 1/25 scale

Hi PD's - Decoy has a number of window frames in her above deck accommodation blocks and
@ 1:25 scale these come out at say 13 mm square, however all of these on the port & stdb sides
are not square but slightly distorted to parallelogram's with the horizontal parts of the frame running
parallel to the deck

Have trialed CA on clear plastic to simulate the glass in 2 mm x 1 mm timber frames, but I end up
with a whitish haze on the plastic from the CA - can anyone suggest a fix for model windows? - Derek

Hi Derek,
I have been building plasic models for years along
with all of my other models and in the world of
plastic using CA to glue clear plastic is a no-no.
There is a company here in the States called
Micro-Scale and they make a line of products for
applying decals, masking, and last but not least is
the item that you are looking for called Micro Crystal
Klear. It is used for adhering canopies to aircraft
and windshields to automobile models. It is milky
looking when applied, can be cleaned up with water
before it dries and is waterproof after it dries. It
can be mixed with dyes to make small signal lights
etc. If you can't find this product where you live,
I'm sure if you contact the local plastic model shop
someone could turn you on to a similar product. Some
people use epoxies for this but depending on the type
of plastic you are using it might not hold. I hope

Hi Derek,
I use WELDBOND for gluing plastic windows in model aircraft -- its a Canadian glue that readily
available at your local Aussie hardware stores -- Mitre 10 , Bunnings, etc

Its a white colour but dries clear, it not a rapid drying glue however, takes about 1 hour to set, and 24 to complete the
drying process. Its not a PVA glue.

Hello all, Here in the States we have a product, available at most hobby stores, called RC-56. that sounds much like the WELDBOND you mentioned, Brett. I hope this helps someone in the States.
