Hi all,
Got to do some research yesterday in the Detroit Library and found a
copy of an excellant writeup in an 1883 paper of the PS Car Ferry
Michigan Central. If I had it to do over this is the model I would
be building.
Gave me some details I didn't know and included the widths of both
the hull (46'6") and the GUARDS (75').
I had mentioned that Mr. Hilton circa 1962 called the sponsons
Guards. It would appear that here in the Great Lakes anyway that
they were indeed called Guards. Found the same term in an 1873
newspaper article describing the GW ferry Michigan(1).
To Al Blevins re. photos.
Nice, Nice, Nice!
