But the Merc has a leak in the engine. When working on steam I noted that quite a considerable amount of steam coming from the front of the engine. The rear had no leaks (no pun intended). First I thought it might be a lack of tension of the rubber "springs", but on looking close I noticed a small gap at the front between cylinder and body. I was able to stick a 0.1mm feeler gauge in the gap. Definitely too much.
I will take closer look into this. It might be that I was a bit sloppy when drilling the holes for the cylinder trunnions and they are a bit off vertical. Should be a fixable problem.

Yes, but this can happen. From my experience, the first test runs of engines in as good as every case needs some improvement. This belongs to our passion!
