A little while ago there was some discussion about calculating scale speed.
Well ........ look no further than the November issue of "Model Boats
magazine. Turn to pages 52 and 53 and there is a whole article about it. To
summarize in a few words " ... then you have to run the model at the desired
full size speed, times the square root of the model's scale".
You will just have to buy a copy of Model Boats to get the full story!!!!
However, one practical test that they suggest is to observe (if possible)
the bow wave, wave pattern, wash etc of the full size ship and then see at
what speed your model creates the closest approximation to it.
