Paddlewheel Colours
« on: December 16, 2015, 08:09:50 AM »
I am in the early stages of building a 32nd scale RC model of the Eppleton Hall. While I have a reasonable handle on the various colour schemes that she wore during her working life, I have no idea what colour(s) to paint her paddlewheels. In some photos they appear to be all black. Photos of other sidewheelers seem to have an all red scheme or black rims with red floats. Does anyone know what would be an appropriate colour or colours for her wheels? Any help in this regard would be much appreciated.

I've attached some photos of my hull and wheels under construction.

Welcome to PD's...OMR  :coffee....

If you Google the Eppleton Hall you will find a number of WEB sites dedicated to this vessel  :breakcomp

One site will best display the paddle wheel colour as red oxide against the black hull
Another displays in B&W, the wheel construction which clearly is of fabricated rims with feathering wooden floats

So form this, a reasonably accurate rendition would be the same red oxide for the rims & associated feathering gear shafts with dark stained timber colour for the floats  :goodluck ....Derek
