What to build!
« on: August 12, 2013, 11:59:09 PM »
I have posted an Introduction but I thought I would re-iterate a couple of my queries here in case not everybody scans the intros.
Back into boat building after a break of about 3 years and trying to decide what I can afford to build without spending all of my pension on what I would like to build! Having built the Glasgow about 4 years ago, I fancied doing it again as it was such an enjoyable experience and was shocked to see how much prices had gone up in the intervening years. I paid less than £150 last time and I see it's now £200 and the fittings kit seems to have doubled and then there's the paddle wheel set phew! My question is "anybody know of an obscure source for the Glasgow which won't incur the wrath of "er indoors"?
Failing that, in my research I came across Models By Design who do quite a nice range of paddlers but as far as I can see all you get in their kits is a fibreglass hull plus a selection of polystyrene sheets in various thicknesses. I have done nearly scratch built models before so that's not a worry, my question is "has anybody had experience of the company and if so what is the standard of their offerings"?
