« on: November 05, 2011, 07:14:33 AM »
Hi.
Can anyone point me in the direction, to purchase, american figures for an american sternwheeled paddle steamer.
As the ones i have do not reflect the 18 hundreds, cowboys negros etc, thanks in advance.

hi waddy,
i had the same problem a while ago
have you checked the range of lemax xmas deco
they have figures just in that time period
but the catch is they come on a base
ofcorse you can cut it of but i took the easy way
and went for a modern group of passengers
shame on me  i know
i will do it the right way on one of my next models

ps on the dutch sit www.marktplaats.nl you can find a lot of lemax figures 2nd hand for good prices
hope you can do something with this info
greetings from bombus
if i haven't done it i'll try it
and maybe it will work

John, do you have the Lindberg 1/64 scale "Southern Bell"?

Curiously,
Dave

Hi Dave.
           Thanks for your msg.
I do have a stern wheeler called"southern belle", off of YE bay!!I do not know the scale but its 36" lon 11" wide
and 14" high.
I thought it was made by krick, of Germany.
I have a set of figures with it that look very much like, "Prieser" ones, I would say H.O. or 1-87 scale,
but they look a shade too high for the doors.
I have trawled through so many makes that i never want to see a pair of plastic boobs again!!!!!!!!!
Cheers John.    :evil

John, if you "Search"(top of the page, in the gray title field) SOUTHERN BELL, you'll
find several threads on the subject; you can also search "smoke", "radio", "figures", etc.
The Krick Southern Bell is a very cool kit (as are both Lindbergs), but all are too big
for HO figures... I think.
A picture is worth a thousand words.

Well, it's no wonder you're confused, John.
Glenco makes a plastic tug type (like yours) Southern Belle in 1/72 scale (9inches long), Lindberg
made a 1/64 plastic 3 foot Southern Belle (this would have been about a 200ft boat... not like
yours). Just last month, Lindberg marketed a Southern Belle just like yours but in 1/42 scale.
To make things worse, the Krick's Southern Belle kit, apparently incorrectly, advertises this boat
as 1/72 on the side of the box!
John, if you change your subject heading to, e.g. "another Southern Belle" you might get more
attention.

Hi Dave.
Thanks a bunch!! Now im spinning like a top. or should i say a paddle wheel!!!
Seriously, i think that 1-64 will be about right, im going down to weymouth, tomorrow, to the only
proper plastic kit/railway shop in the area, and take my figures there, for appraisal,
and see what thay come up with, will let you know what transpires.
Just to throw another spanner in the works, there are two different sized doors on this version.
and i judge figure size on, if it wiold be able to walk through the door, then its ok.
Cheers John.     :-\
