Newcomer to the forum saying 'hello'...
« on: September 22, 2009, 05:25:41 AM »
Hi everybody, just thought I'd make myself known....

I'm Richard, I live in deepest Sussex, and have had a dark interest in paddlers for a long time, ever since I built the first of the PBM paddler kits to come into my local model shop...to my surprise it worked first time out, and continued to work perfectly all the time I owned it. It ended up with all sorts of silly things like working lights, music playing etc....totally over the top, but it looked good on the water.

My main interest for the last thirty years or so has been r/c submarines, but now that I live in a small flat and have no workshop facilities any longer, it's becoming more and more difficult to build operational subs, so I'm leaning towards building another paddler. I have bought a paddler kit off ebay last week, that will keep me going hopefully until I can sell my X-craft midget sub kit and finance a Graupner Glasgow.

That's me in a nutshell really...there's a few names on here I recognise from other forums, they'll know who I mean!

Thanks for having me here....stand by for a barrage of questions when the boat hits the slipway!

Rich

Pics of the kit should be here, if I've done  things properly....

Hi Rich

Nice to see you on Paddleducks. Get paddling, it's great to build these models. Are you interested in the 'Glasgow' then ?  This is going to be my next model, so perhaps I should wait and see how you get on.  :whistle

all the best

Despite the high cost of living,

I noticed the name u-33 and your interest in submarines. The U-33 sank in the clyde and bits from the inigma m/c were recovered from it.

Well, thank you gentlemen for the warm welcome, much appreciated.

Derek...nice to see you on home ground, so to speak...it's the usual madhouse over there.

Ken...yes mate, I fancy the Glasgow. It'll not be built as per instructions, I never seem to be able to do that! Once the X-craft kit is sold, I can go ahead and order it. I have a few ideas as to how I'd like it to look when completed.

Ding...thanks for the info on U-33, wrong boat though. The U-33 in question is a modern Type 212 class boat, I (almost) finished one apart from the X tail rudders...they drove me mad, so I sold the bl**dy thing!!
I do have a model of U-441 (the U-Flak1 flak trap boat) on the slipway at present, but it will be the last sub I feel, these paddlers are taking over. Thirty years of trying to make a boat sink is more than enough!!!

Thank you again gents,

Rich
