Page 4 PRG 1258/1/472Displays two main horizontal engine cylinders on independent beds which is fine, but then a singular outboard horizontal cylinder in which we assume would be one of two - this snap also displays two? huge coupling drum winches associated with the central main two cylinders which does not appear to be connectedPage 2 PRG 1258/1/420Displays one or the [assumed two] outboard cylinders but suggests that this is one of the two Captain Sturt main cylinders
Our guess was that PRG1258/1/420 was taken in an engine manufacturing plant where we have two different engines under test on the test benches ....
Hi PD's ....& yes Moritz....I think you are correct with the vessel named 'Derrick Boat' ..... http://www.samemory.sa.gov.au/site/page.cfm?u=522&c=2714 ...no relation to me....she was built as a snagger..... ....not sausages on the BBQ....but snagging is the term used ....to remove the fallen gum trees from the river that would be termed as a snag Still a little unclear, as Derrick boat was not self propelled.... .......DerekPS ... The South Australian Library has the following disclaimer attached to each of the photographic imagesCopies of this image may be made for private research/study. So considering PD's are a "not for profit" group....I suggest we fit into the latter clasification ...so are OK
Unfortunately, I'm not able to access the images within the South Australian collection. "Image only available to users within the State Library of South Australia"Guess they don't like Yanks living in China. If anyone finds some goodies in there, please let me know. Chuck
