Hello from Brisbane
« on: March 13, 2008, 05:54:02 PM »
Hi,
just an intro. My name is Nick, I live on the south side of Brisbane, I'm the secretary of the Logan City Marine Modellers. I am not into paddlers specifically but built Lulonga years ago, Im in the process of rebuilding/ finishing her after carrying her around Australia during my Navy days and not having time for any hobby's at all. A few of you probably know me from other forums and I have met a couple of other guys around the traps.
Regards
Nick

Hi Nick,

Welcome to Paddleducks - I think our other Aussie users must be tucked up in bed, but I'm sure they'll drop you a note to welcome you soon.... Once the sun has come up and they've had a few tinnies ;)

~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~

Not sure about the brekky cause I posted in the arvo around 3pm. Id done a full days work then a few cascades after work. Its now 8:45 pm and thinking about bed.
I started the Lulonga after the article was posted in model boats with the intention of using it for buoy retrieval duties. I got it running with a MFA worm drive and 380 motors and a couple of the old hitec 6-10 speed controls. The budget at the time couldn't spring for the fancy chain drive in the article. Now is is powered by a tamiya twin gearbox and chain set. at the moment I'm redoing the lower decks to fix some transit damage and fix up some (lots) of dodgyness from the first time round.
Regards
Nick

Hi Nick.
I'm new to this site myself, & find it a most facinating place to spend some time. I was'nt specifically a paddle enthusiast, but the bug is biting hard after surfing around this site.
As for Cascade beer. Good to see you have a taste for the best beer in Australia. I was weened on it in Tassie where I grew up.
Take care.
Paul

Hi,
Ive been making a little progress on my Lulonga, rebuilt all the lower deck walls, made a new bow, rebuilt the paddle boxes and fitted the chain drive. Now to detail and paint the lower decks.
Hey Paul, it is very interesting here. Hard to find any good beer on tap in Qld. We live where they can't spell beer so they call it XXXX. (4X) ;D ;D By the way you stirred up some state pride, I grew up on Coopers. Ill leave it at that ;)
Regards
Nick

Will post some photos of the rebuild so far later on.
