MISSISSIPI PADDLE BOAT
« on: March 30, 2008, 12:14:02 AM »
Hi guys - just joined today

My main area of interest to date has been tugs and fishing vessels and have just completed the Model Slipway Maggie M and just about to start 'Dutch Courage'

My wife has asked me to build a Mississippi paddle steamer for her - well I can't turn down an offer like that - can I?

I think she has, in mind, a pleasure boat with all the trimmings includind a band playing 'see them shuffling along'

I have seen the Creole Queen on www.dumastore.com. given to me by Mayhem members and this looks to fit the bill.

Do any of you know of other sites I can visit. Whilst I can build from scratch I would prefer a kit, styrene if possible

Regards

Captain Chris

Firstly welcome to Paddleducks Chris.

Sadly there are very few paddler kits of any description available. The Dumas Creole Queen, and the Krick Mississippi Belle are the only two sternwheelers I can think of that are still in production. Both are all wood kits though....

So unless you choose one of those, a scratch build is your only option....

Eddy, I am not really up to date, but I think the `Lulonga` stern wheeler might be still available.   Will have a look through some recent MMI and Model Boat mags.  Oldie
