PV Brewarrina (Murray River, SA)

This is a new vessel, joining a whole family of modern houseboats built to traditional styles.  It was launched at Moorook (SA).
The original Brewarrina was principally a Darling River paddlesteamer, 1877-1926. Many paddlesteamers were named after the rivers or towns served. Brewarrina is a town in NSW on Barwon River; the official start of the Darling is where the Barwon joins the Culgoa. Brewarrina was regarded as the usual navigable limit of the Darling (and even then, very seasonal). There were rare instances of boats reaching lower Queensland during floods. NSWR built a branchline to Brewarrina, which I never got to ride. I have been to the town on a bus tour to the Lightning Ridge opal fields.
