PS EmmyLou - new Model Construction in OZ 2008
« on: May 09, 2008, 08:36:21 PM »
Hi PD's......received  a few PM's from a newish OZ PD member..... :crash with the latest as below....please read on......it refers to a partial build of PS EmmyLou from the Float-A-Boat Plans

Derek,
I know that you would prefer that I post on line! Thank you for the info on stability. After reading those posts I am now aware that apparently I have made a bad choice for my first boat. I was aware that there may be some problems with the stability owing to the width vs height when I saw the plans(Float-a-boat). At present I am unsure as to what I am going to do, whether to continue or find some thing else to build, so for the time being I will just continue to lurk in the background as I feel that there is nothing that at present I could contribute to the forum.

[dw].....considering that the hull is partially built only, my recommendation to the PS EmmyLou builder is to re-read the story of the Mississsippi 1870 build by Bundyrap & consider the simple fix outlined here by increasing the vessel draft/hull depth
The builder also talks of his new CNC machinary ....to complete the task

Naturally we must respect each members wishes ...to post or NOT to post.... :ranting....

However if the builder posted..... :breakcomp...he would have the eyes & assistance of hundreds of members ... :gathering...& much better than just one  :beer Irish convict

Oh PS........builder of PS EmmyLou .....if you do decide to POST.......this is your own personal PD WEB site folder for the project.....

With reference to Derek's post above, he quoted the following:

Please remember we are here to help - So just posting a question is still contributing! You may just ask a question that others have been wondering about, and in doing so you will help them, as well as getting an answer yourself.

We don't bite (normally!), and we have members from around the world with many skills who are only too willing to give help and advice when required.

Whilst posting on a forum for the first time can seem a little daunting, remember that we've all been at that stage at some point in the past..... Once you take the plunge, you'll quickly find that not only will you generally get an answer to your problem, but that you will also develop friendships with people you would never normally meet. Just think of it as a big club - Come on in, the water's lovely!  :vacation

Regards
Eddy

One suggestion for the hull is to use it to build a model of the Invincible.  The Emmylou's hull isn't as nicely shaped as the Invincible's, however they have very similar dimensions & are both double ended.  The Invincible has the benefit of having much less superstructure (well at least from the 1930s onwards).  Have a look at some of the pictures posted under the Invincible thread & see what you think.
