She is very very nice, and not too far from the  Swiss border, on the Ammersee, about 20 miles south east of Munich. She is nice  inside as well, with big picture windows so you can see the paddles turning. The  1906 veteran DIESSEN was rebuilt last year on the same lake. Both are  diesel-powered, not steam

I remember that when the newly built Herrsching was commissioned 5 years ago, there were some control issues with the independent diesel-hydraulic drive of her paddlewheels:
Not only on one occasion she sliced through a wooden pier...

But these initial problems have been fully solved of course, and she is now regarded a complete success. The complete rebuilding of the veteran Diessen following her example proves this.
