Hi Brett..are you using these in an airbrush or using them in
aerosols? Some of the new enamel sprays aerosols cans at our
automotive shop are excellent and dry within 30 mins with recoating
in 10 mins. These are, however, gloss sprays which tend to give
a "showroom" look to models which is very smart but not necessarily
authentic.
Another approach some of our top modelers at the VMSS use, is to
brush on those acrylic paints you can buy for a buck a bottle at any
craft store. They're highly mixable, quick drying and with a
realisticly flat finish which can be covered with flat, satin or
gloss clearcoats as required. When dry they're waterproof. They can
also be thinned with water and make nice under/overglaze washes for
weathering or 3D-ing. When diluted they can be water based stains for
wood planking.
All the best.
