Low voltage motors

Hi everyone, Catching up with correspondance having been away- on
the subject of low-voltage motors, I try to obtain people's old and
worn out video recorders. Some of these are broken and some are just
thrown out to be replaced by a newer model but all are a source of
small motors, pulleys, belts, cogs, flywheels and all sorts of
useful bits and bobbies for us modellers. Three of my boats are
powered by such motors which seem to run quite happily on 4-6 volts.
Try to get a old video recorder, open it up. You may be surprised

Couldn't agree more Ady - it's the old ones that are the treasure
like 15 year old VCR's - I have just purchased two new [12 year old
dseign] JVC capstan motors [PU45979P] - true slip ring [brushless]
motors - ball & thrust bearing construction - low current consumption
high torque & low speed - I am in the process of building independent
wheel drives similar to PT Scotia [from our photos folder] however not
quite as removable - regards Derek
