For all the antipodean paddlers.
In this months issue of Old Glory (page 36) there is a nice picture and
brief write up of the 106 year paddler "Marion" on the Murray River.
It is a wonder there are any trees left standing, anywhere near the river!!
She burns three quarters of a ton of wood per hour!!! On a recent rip she
went through 23 tons of wood!!
She carries 30 overnight passengers and crew of six. Interestingly the
engine is not actually a "proper" paddle engine but a Marshall portable
loaded onto the ship and connected up!!
What super way to travel!! Anyone been on her?? Please tell us about it??
There are some more details if anyone wants them. Just yell!! Better still
get a copy of Old Glory.
All the very best
David
