Ok, second post and I am now confused.
I have the Artesania KOTM kit which is listed as 1/80 scale -- and
experimentally I pulled out a 1/72 model soldier to see and he sure
looks like he could just walk through the wheelhouse door. I've seen
at least two posts and dealers list this kit as "1:50" scale. mine
says 1/80 on the box. Were there 2 versions of the KOTM?

Remember that the prototype door would have been much higher than normal, as per 19th century American practice, esp on western steamboats, whose upperworks were more in keeping with land based architecture than marine.
