Well Stuart - from the last two snaps she (Reliant) looks to have a
diminutive bottom,
but that is only relative to the snap angle taken
When we look at the snaps of her wheels we can clearly see substantial
draft, and yes the
sponsons look big, but you are building to plans so sit back & relax
It's really easy looking over another's shoulder (your snaps & comments) and
thinking the
next logical step - however here I go
I would just fill the bath, place the vessel in (current status with wheels)
and see how she rests
(draft), then add weights or pressure on scales to confirm needed weight to
bring her to your
planned draft - you can also check her CofG (and rolling action) - however
this is naturally
dependent on the temporary weights being typical in size or placement of the
real components
(principally engines + boiler) & would do this before I ventured to the
Chedder factory
A number of other PD's have come back on the shaft speed & chain drive
issue - all things
being equal I believe your proposed chain drive is the most authentic format
for a paddler
with real engines etc - the issue of shaft speed (if correction is needed)
may be as simple an
alternate chain sprocket ratio
My progress on PS Decoy is currently very slow - but will increase in the
near future
