new member intro
« on: March 21, 2017, 03:47:26 AM »
hello, long time ship modeler with way to many projects in the works, so deciding to add another.. most of my R/C models are from the Spanish American war era.. years back when I picked up a unimat SL plans were always to do some live steam work.. looking at 36ft US navy steam cutter in 1/12th scale.. short fat boiler and a two cylinder compound engine.. at this time its an ongoing design project along with collecting plans, parts and materials.

project got little bump when I was given a 9" section of 3 1/2" copper pipe/tube of the needed wall thickness..

My USS RALEIGH a steam cutter would have been carried as one her ship's boats.. thanks todd..

Welcome Todd.
Some very talented live steam folk among our members sadly I'm not one of them.
Whilst this is a predominately Paddle related forum, Feel free to post any steam related threads in the Live Steam section and your none paddle models into Other Models.

yes looking for live steam knowledge, but also in my stash of plans for years is the USS Neosho/Osage civil war sternwheeled river monitor.. 1/48th would be a nice sized model (45") a 1/96th version at 22.5" would be a fun thing to run at the 1/96th warship gathering we have!!
