Memories of Stuart Badger

Hi I am Ros and had nearly 35 years of joy with Stuart Badger who was a regular participant of this forum until his untimely death in May 2011. I am now building new life in the UK and hoping to settle in Weston Super Mare. I just wanted to see how things weregoing and sm very pleased that the forum and site is still going strong. Sending greetings to all who remember Stuart or have been helped by his posts.

Our PD archives will bear testament to Stuart's support for our group in his modelling work ...all those years ago

I do remember to this day, when Stuart offered me a few links of plastic chain he had left over from his PS Reliant build which features in our archives

Also remember when Eddy & Roz visited you guys in your Mediterranean island retreat ...& the many postings that followed

So pleased you are re-settling closer to home......be assured any new member viewing our PD history will have the opportunity to read Stuarts words & view his build images

Thanks Derek. Once I get my stuff out if storage I am sure I willf ind other bits if modelling treasures. Reliant is still much admired and still on Naxos. Also looking forward to going on Waverly when it is next down here

Although I didn't know Stuart you are most welcome I have read many of his posts. I'm also from down under and have been administrator of Paddleducks for just over a year.

Hi Ros,

Lovely to see you've joined our little group....

Stuart was always one of the stalwarts of Paddleducks, his builds of the Paddle tug Reliant, the Irish Royal Mail steamer Connaught, and the salvage tug Hercules were second to none. His skills as a modeller were never in doubt! He was always there to give help and advice to anyone that asked - I know he helped me out more than once or twice!

Over the years the four of us (You, Stuart, Roz and myself) all became very good friends - I still miss the Skype chats that Stuart and I had almost every evening! And your visit over to the UK when Stuart brought his model of the Connaught to Paddler Day is still one of my fondest memories. The ship was HUGE and looked magnificent on the water, a true testament to his work! I also remember the day we went for a sail on the Whitby lifeboat, and Stuart lost his hat when a gust of wind blew it into the sea!

We both went through the mill within a matter of weeks of each other when Stuart and Roz both passed away in 2011. They will both be sadly missed, but I don't want to dwell on the negative things.

I could continue this for hours with all my memories, but I don't want to bore everyone! Hopefully we can get together soon and have a real "catch up" now that your settled back in the UK..

Yes Eddy many happy memories but everything moves on. I am so glad the forum and site are still going thanks to all the wonderful volunteers like your self and Damien. Look forward to catching up this year.
