I just visited Stuart Cameron's Website tribute to "Waverley" (the
only surviving seagoing PASSENGER sidepaddler left in the world) and
found a couple of little tidbits I found interesting.
The first Clyde paddle steamer was "Comet" of 1812, the first
commercial steamship in Europe.
The last Clyde paddle steamer is "Waverley" of 1947, claimed to be
"the only remaining sea-going paddle steamer in the World."
I'd love to see an image of "Comet" if anybody has one.
Stuart's "Waverley" Website is at

Clyde Sidewheelers ever built and there is a huge model of her built
by John McNulty and photographed by Alistair Black at
