For anyone's info "model Boats" Magazine has plans for about 14
paddle wheelers at:
http://www.nexusonline.com/pages/nexusdirect.cgi

They all look interesting and some are listed as "easy to build"

Excellent find, Les!!!

Thanks for putting this one up. As you suggested, I typed in "paddle"
into the model Shop search box at the top right corner and came up
with the following NEXUS plans:

"BILSDALE" 1:48 Sidewheeler by P N Thomas (This one's a REAL
BEAUT..we have a picture of a completed model under the Paddlers from
Brazil folder in the files section built by Edmar Mammini under the
name "Beatriz"

"BOURNEMOUTH QUEEN" 54" model of the famous South Coast Excursion
sidewheeler by Richard Webb

"CALEDONIA" 1:96 UK Excursion Sidewheeler by Robert McLuckie (genre
Clyde Paddlers)

"CHIEFTAIN" 43" Famous (and lovely) little sidewheel paddle tug by P
N Thomas

CLEOPATRA" SMALL 27" Sternwheeler which could be used on the Nile or
Yukon..now THAT tells you all you need to know! By A W Coldbridge

FORCEFUL" 1:48 at almost 40" Here she is!! My favourite paddlers of
all time..the mighty RMAS "Director" class by David Metcalf

FORCEFUL PADDLES. These are the reknowned George Baker's drawings for
working feathering paddles and gearboxes for those of you who have the
patience (and bravery)to tackle them.

"HIAWATHA" 47" American East coast sidewheeler by Paul Quinn

"MARCHIONESS OF LORNE" 44" Famous UK Excursion sidewheeler by A.
Thomas (genre "Waverley" and Clyde Paddlers)

"NINA" 34" Somewhat fanciful, easy to build sidewheel steam launch by
Basil Harley

"PRUNELLA" 32" and another Somewhat "fanciful" semi-scale
easy-to-build sidewheeler by G H Deason for Mammod steam engine
installation.

PT "IONA" 41" 1:32Twin stack Thames paddle tug by F W Boyd 9I like the
looks of this one)

"TALISMAN" 56" Famous Diesel Electric sidewheeler LNER Excursion
sidewheeler by Alex C. Thomson (genre "Waverley" and Clyde paddlers)

"TOTNES CASTLE" 42" River Dart (UK) Excursion sidewheeler by P N
Thomas

Pretty nice selection of UK Paddlers. The reason I've included these
names in a posting is that they now become "searchable" in our
archives, so if someone wants to find 'Director" class paddlewheeler,
they type in "Director" into the search box of our messages and up
this comes!!

I do want to get all these plans into a database eventually, because
there's loads more and specially important North American River and
Lake paddler plans from John Fryant, our own Towboat Joe and a few
other places.
