Sad News: Towboat Joe RIP
« on: February 15, 2012, 02:46:58 PM »
Saw this on RC Groups today.

Quote
I received the sad news the other day that Joe Brown, aka "towboat Joe" passed away over this past Christmas.

If you're a riverboat fan, you will recall that Joe and his pal, the late Bill Zumwalt kept that branch of the hobby pretty active.

Condolences go out to his family and friends

Although we never met, I always felt a kinship with Joe since we both having grown up & lived on the banks of the Ohio.  May he rest in peace

I never met Joe, but over the years we still became good friends - He was more than happy to share all of his collection of towboat plans  with me and never asked for a penny.

I will miss our exchange of emails, he was always a real gentleman!

I also have a collection of CD's of Joe's music lying around the house - A man of many talents.

You'll be missed mate!

Regards
Eddy

In all of my technical hobbies, the hobby grew on the strength of the baby-boomer generation.  Today, time is up, and there is not the same replenishment rate from generations X, Y, Z, W or emo.  The growth area in my own magazine is the obituary section: one to three per month.  As with others, I only ever knew Joe from his posts here: always friendly and helpful.  He was a man who loved the hobby, and would share with others.  He leaves happy memories.
