Today (Tues.19.7) I left home at 9.45, and was in Echuca by 12.45.
I had my Edwardian centenary gear (striped blazer & straw boater).
Pevensey had a crew of three: Michael was a deckhand today.
Most of the passengers for the 13.15 cruise were from Echuca Historical Society, and congregated on the rear deck.
The launching was conducted before casting off, by a councillor who also runs a bookshop. He spoke very effectively about history, and the need to preserve it.
Author Helen Coulson responded, then sat at a table to autograph copies as the cruise got underway.
We rounded up, then headed downstream, and paused at a jetty serving a winery to collect passengers who had headed there on the morning cruise.
I knew many of the passengers, and exchanged gossip about recent river developments and progress on boat maintenance.
At the end, I left promptly to be back in Melbourne to work on May RNV.
Enclosed: three aspects of the day.
