Well my new project has been sorted, thanks to Kim at Clyde Model Boats.... It's the paddle tug Lingdale.

I've had the paddlewheel kit for a while, and the hull arrived this morning - Attached are a few photos. Though I admit that the photo of the real vessel isn't the most flattering image, but it's all I could find after a quick search on Google

The idea is to build it so it can be used for tug towing events, as well as a paddler in its own right.

It looks like an interesting build. Are you going for electric or steam drive?

It will be electrically powered Gerald, for two reasons - First I couldn't afford to go for steam, and secondly I hope to use it for tug towing, so electric is much more practical...

Hello Eddy. Have you got a copy of Seahorses of the Tees?. There are some pictures in there. If not, I have a copy. Some years ago there was a shipyard model of the Lingdale on display at Teesside Airport for a couple of years. This belonged to Tees Towage and was on loan. It went back to Tees Towage where it was displayed in their offices. I remember Ron Swindon used the model to build a smaller version which he sailed in the MPBA nationals placing in the top eight.
I remember the shipyard model was in superb condition with loads of period details.
If you like, I will try to trace its whereabouts this week and see if we can photograph it. Regards, Walter.

No I don't have a copy of the book you mentioned, so could I borrow it please?

It would be great if you could tace the model, so we could take photographs, I'm sure that would be a great help!

Hi Folks. I was a bit cheaky and went to what used to be Tees Towing and was introduced to a nice young lady called Julie. My olde worlde charm worked and she located the model of LINGDALE  for me on top of a storage unit. As I remembered, it was a contemporary shipyard model full of fine detail in Crossthwaite colours, a bit the worse for wear due to poor storage. I am dragging Eddy along on Wednesday to take pictures. Regards, Walter

Walter and I went down to Svitzer at Middlesbrough earlier today and they were kind enough to let us photograph the model of Lingdale that they have....

So for anyone else that might be interested in building her, here they are.... These are reduced in size for the forum, but I can provide the full size images if anyone requests them.

That is certainly a nice looking tug and so practical. It should be possible to build her from those excellent pictures. I was going to make a twin funnel tug from the Glasgow kit so I shall be watching with interest.

I've made a small start on the model, nothing much to show yet, but hopefully by the end of the week there will be something worth posting?

I've started on the main cabin below the bridge deck, and I need a pencil to mark some light lines that can easily be rubbed out later for cutting the windows etc, but sods law has struck again and I can't find a pencil anywhere! Plenty of black biros, but that's no good.....
